This spring, the RUX team had the opportunity to attend three incredible Microsoft Dynamics 365 community events across North America and Asia. From our perspective, one thing stood out everywhere we went: the Business Central ecosystem is energized, collaborative, and focused on practical innovation as ever. We enjoyed being a part of it all!
We were proud to participate and exhibit as a Silver Sponsor at Directions North America in Orlando this April, an Advocate Sponsor at DynamicsCon in Las Vegas this May, and a Silver Sponsor at Directions Asia in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Across all three events, it was exciting to reconnect with familiar faces and build relationships with new partners, prospects, and industry professionals. The conversations were thoughtful and future-oriented, while also deeply grounded in solving real operational challenges.
One topic consistently dominated discussions throughout every conference: AI. Without a doubt, Microsoft is all-in on Business Central as an AI-first platform.
“The next phase of Business Central isn't just about AI-assisted features, it's about autonomous agents that can carry out multi-step business processes end to end,” explained Jake Oetinger, Manager, Product Engineering at RUX. “What sets this apart from pure automation is that humans stay in the loop: agents handle approval steps and exceptions, and flag transactions for human review before anything is posted. The result is something that feels less like a chatbot and more like a capable, supervised coworker.”
Our team also noticed that while the commitment to bring Business Central into the AI era was undeniable, it's no longer a typical roadmap conversation – rather it has evolved significantly. The focus isn’t simply about what AI could do. Instead, organizations are asking how AI can be implemented responsibly, practically, and in ways that create measurable business value.
Anna Meyer, Chief Sales Officer at RUX, said, “From Microsoft sessions to partner discussions, the focus felt less about AI possibilities and more about practical use cases, adoption, governance, and measurable outcomes. Partners seem to be thinking more seriously about how AI gets embedded into day-to-day workflows and packaged directly into customer value.”
Anna also noted that operational complexity remains a major opportunity area for us to focus on and that there is continued demand for solutions that bridge operational gaps and extend standard ERP capabilities. For equipment rental businesses and the partners who support them, this shift is particularly important. Operationally complex industries like rentals, field service, logistics, and asset management require solutions that go beyond core ERP functionality. The demand for connected systems and operational visibility continues to grow rapidly.
“The AI conversations and keynote sessions at Directions have encouraged our team to think even further about how we can use AI to get the most flexibility and scalability out of our products for our equipment rental customers,” said Daren Christoffersen, Product Manager on the RUX team. “We’ll also be utilizing it more internally for development, documentation, and prototyping.”
Another major takeaway from this event season was the growing importance of differentiation within the Business Central ecosystem. As more software partners and ISVs enter this market, specialization and collaboration are becoming essential.
“Vertical specialization, repeatable IP, and strong ISV partnerships appear to be becoming more central to go-to-market strategies,” Anna shared.
At RUX, this reinforces our continued focus on serving the unique operational needs of the equipment rental industry while building strong relationships across the broader Microsoft partner ecosystem. And perhaps the most encouraging part of the season was seeing just how collaborative the BC community continues to be.
We were impressed as always with how much optimism and collaboration exists between Microsoft, partners, and ISVs. Many of our conversations centered around co-selling, complementary solutions, and building stronger ecosystems to solve customer problems more effectively.
“It was good to talk with the other partners at Directions about what they were doing and what they were struggling with,” said Daren. “The BC community is very close, and people are open to collaborate on things that can be difficult to manage. I had some great conversations with VARs to promote our apps and I’m excited to explore the opportunities that were discussed.”
That collaborative energy was especially evident (as it is every year!) at Dynamics Con, where educational sessions and networking opportunities created meaningful conversations between partners and customers alike.
“I found the educational sessions at DynamicsCon especially insightful,” said Alicia Bement, Strategic Channel Partner Manager at RUX. “There was a lot of attendance and engagement in the session rooms. It was a great place to network with partners and connect directly with customers as well.”
The timing of Directions Asia in particular was perfect as we very recently announced new app localizations for Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Indonesia, and Thailand. This means equipment rental and field service businesses in these regions can now use RUX products in the language they work in every day.
We felt very fortunate at Directions Asia to meet with such a strong network of partners and ISVs.
“I noticed a big push toward end-to-end cloud solutions, with less reliance on legacy systems compared to other markets,” said Ben Cole, Strategic Sales Executive at RUX. “From what I saw, service and maintenance workflows are getting more attention, especially for equipment rentals. I also noticed a lot of discussion around and focus on preventative maintenance capabilities. Overall, the event was a great opportunity for RUX to introduce our products and experience to help local players scale faster.”
As we wrap up this busy event season, we’re incredibly grateful for everyone who stopped by our booths, attended sessions, shared ideas, and spent time with our team. Events like these are a reminder that innovation does not happen in isolation. It happens through partnership, collaboration, and a shared commitment to helping customers succeed.
The future of the Business Central ecosystem feels optimistic, practical, and full of opportunity. We are excited to continue building alongside this community and helping equipment rental businesses unlock even greater operational efficiency and growth in the years ahead.
